Environment Oregon strives for environmental responsibility – taking

Neighborhood/Community Cooperatives
Walnut Street Co-Op
Started in 2000, the Walnut Street Co-op is a cooperative household
located on 1680 Walnut St. in South Eugene – between University of
Oregon and Hendrick’s park. Admittedly, countless superficial

Animal Welfare Groups
Shelter Animal Resource Alliance
The Shelter Animal Resource Alliance (S.A.R.A.) is one of the many
animal welfare organizations in the Eugene area. The group is unique in
that they run a small thrift store, entitled Sara’s Treasures, as their
primary source of funds. The group works toward saving, spaying,
neutering and adopting shelter animals and relieving the overpopulation

Lane Ferret Shelter & Rescue
In the early nineties, Melanie Ellis was suffering from depression and found an interesting
means of coping with her symptoms. While therapy cats and dogs are
rather common, Melanie found the best companions for her were ferrets.
She quickly became familiar with the rambunctious, playful creatures,
connected with other ferret owners and enthusiasts, and became involved
