Parents: when your child or teen signs up for Summer Reading at an Oregon library, enter to win $1000 towards a college savings account.

“Dive into Saving for College” will award 15 prizes of $1000 each. In addition, each winner’s local library will receive $500 to support future reading programs. The project is sponsored by the Oregon College Savings Plan in collaboration with the Oregon Library Association and the Oregon State Library.

Who can enter? Parents of youth — from newborns to 18 year olds – participating in any Oregon library’s Summer Reading program. Enter once per child by filling out an entry form at the library when children sign up for Summer Reading.

“This partnership is a natural,” said Greg Rodriguez, Youth Services Manager at Eugene Public Library. “Summer Reading helps kids by keeping their skills up while school’s out. Participating in the Oregon College Savings Plan helps your kid succeed educationally as well.”

The Oregon College Savings Plan helps parents, grandparents, family, and friends save for a loved one’s future college education expenses. Administered by the State of Oregon, the plan is managed by TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing, Inc. The prize money for Dive into Saving for College
is provided by TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing, Inc.

Entries must be postmarked by August 20, 2010, and received by August 24, 2010. For more information on Dive into Saving for College, including complete official rules, visit www.oregoncollegesavings.com.
