Acorn Park

A child on the playground at Acorn Park in Eugene.

Acorn Park is a neat little park tucked away between Buck and Acorn Streets on West 15th in Eugene. If 15th were to continue between Acorn and Buck, it would cut through the park. It’s kind of tricky to find, but this park is in West Eugene and can be accessed from either West 11th or West 18th Street by Acorn Park Street or Buck Street, respectively.

This park would be best described as a neighborhood park, where if you lived close by and are a kid, you would most likely go hangout at Acorn Park if your mom told you to go outside and play. The park has everything you would want in the way of amenities, except a bathroom, and is clean and tidy.

While some of the parks in Eugene are rather big, this tiny neighborhood park offer a very nice get away for the mom or dad that’s home during the day with the kids. Taking the kids down to the park or sending the teenagers out to play at the park is a great alternative to having them hangout inside the house. Acorn Park has a basketball court and a wide open space to walk the dog or lay in the sun. The playground is surrounded by bark chips and is shaded by big Oak tress so there are two things you won’t have to worry about if you have little ones, sunburn or scraped knees.Acorn Park at W 15th & Acorn Streets in Eugene Oregon

The park filled up quickly as the noon hour set in on a pleasant sunny Saturday afternoon. There are two picnic tables by the playground, trash receptacles, and park benches located nearby with lots of open place to run, play catch or toss a softball. And if you work up a sweat, you will find a drinking fountain that works!

The parking is ample and would accommodate more cars then would typically show up, unless you have a large party for a wedding. This would be a great place for an outdoor reception after a wedding too.

There is plenty to do at this little park off the beaten path. It is always a pleasant surprise when you find, after living in Eugene for many years, there are little get away parks that you never knew existed. Come explore Eugene and find the little park you’ve been missing.
