Campbell Senior Center

On the map it’s called “Campbell Community Center” but the sign outside reads “Celeste Campbell Senior Center.” Regardless of the official name, Campbell Center is a part of the City of Eugene Parks and Recreation organization.  It is a wonderful place for all members of the community to participate in activities of their choosing.  Just because it says ‘senior’ on the sign, it doesn’t mean you have to be, shall we say, ‘seasoned’ to be involved with the goings on at 155 High Street.

The center is a perfect place to have a wedding reception, a celebration of life event, a 25th Wedding Anniversary party or any kind of event you can think of.  For more information on the types of events and facilities available, please contact Yvaughn Tompkins at 541-682-6351.

So sit back and enjoy your virtual tour of Campbell Senior Center.  You can find the center by heading north on High Street from Eugene.  The center is a wonderful place to visit with friends, sit and read books, play pool or cards or put jig-saw puzzles together.  You will find nice people, a nice soft couch, coffee on all the time and the best part is: if it is hot out, the AC is on! Refreshing cool air! If it’s cold out you will get heat inside; raining, you will be dry.  Comfort, companionship and entertainment in a safe environment is the focus of the center.

You can volunteer at Campbell, too.  You will have to pass a background check and fill out an application, but this effort will yield the opportunity to work with the elderly or assist someone who is disabled, which can be a real joy.  In the photo you can see a wonderfully equipped wood shop that is available for community members to use from 9:00 – 3:00 Monday thru Wednesday.  The shop is fully stocked with all the equipment you could need to repair your furniture or build something new.

With so many activities, and the open door policy of the Campbell Senior Center, there is no reason not to put the center on your list of places to check out in Eugene.  In fact, the Lamb cottage is part of the center and is located in Skinner Butte Park.  The staff at the center will be able to assist you with all your questions.  This little cottage is wonderfully convenient with a kitchen and a very nice place to meet up and have a celebration of any kind with friends and family.  As a senior, you will find a meal waiting for you on Wednesdays, companionship, and activities to do.  So don’t let air and opportunity get in your way of exploring the Campbell Senior Center, and by all means, indulge in a cup of coffee on the City of Eugene.
