Charnell Mulligan Park

Charnell Mulligan Park is located in the middle of a quaint older part of Eugene on Charnelton Street and West 17th Avenue.  This quiet park was dedicated to the City of Eugene in 1984 by the family of Charnell Mulligan, a Eugene pioneer.

It’s a great little neighborhood park with a small market right down the street, which makes a picnic at the park an easy thing to do on a whim.  This park is lush with a large green grass commons area occupying most of the park area.  There is a row of trees on the West side of the park, a playground for the kids (and young-at-heart grownups) that is situated in the middle of a giant sandbox.  I bet that sand feels good under a pair of bare feet.

You will also find a covered seating area with two picnic tables to accommodate hanging out in the park on a rainy day and two other picnic tables located under the natural sky.  This park is a little off the beaten path of streets usually traveled in Eugene, but easy to find nonetheless.

You can bring your dog down to the park, but it’s requested that he or she be kept on a leash and that you clean up after they find the perfect spot to do their business.

This would also be a great place to put on some walking shoes and walk around the concrete sidewalk for a little exercise.

The park is closed from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.  There are park rules such as no skateboarding, but the good news is you can bring down some sidewalk chalk and use at the concrete sections of the park. A sign in the park says “Everyone is welcome. Please enjoy this park.” So. why not stop by for a visit?
