Churchill Sports Park
Churchill Skate Park is located South of Churchill High School at 18th and Bailey Hill Road. This park is not for the faint of heart skateboarder as the dips in this concrete commons are seriously straight down and then straight back up.
There were a couple of BMX bikes rolling off the edges and catching air as they crested back up over the metal lipped rim of the concrete dips. By the rules posted, bikes are not supposed to be in the area, but rules are made to be broken as far as these kids were concerned. The picture to the right was taken from the following website:

As you can see, the area of the skate park itself on the right was very deep and quite intimidating. There are places around the park where the chain link fence has been removed to accommodate easy access to the park for skateboarders’.
There essentially is a sports complex in this area. You will find a baseball field with an electronic scoreboard, tracks, soccer fields and open grassy spaces to support a good game of Frisbee. This area would be especially nice for community leagues to entertain their various sporting activities as viewing bleachers are placed by each of the fields.
As for the care and upkeep of this park, it was very well maintained with lots of trash cans around so the litter from the spectators and skaters would end up in a can and not on the ground. It seemed the day of the visit some of the youth had a hard time getting their trash into any of the three trash cans by the skate park as there was a lot of litter on the ground.
Overall, this is a skate park for the more advanced and definitely a place that would be nice to go hang out if you haven’t spent much time watch skateboarders in action. There are a few trees that will offer up some shade if it’s warm out and just south of the park there is plenty of parking.
