Lincoln School Park
Lincoln School Park is located at 12th and Madison Street, across from the fair grounds. If you have been in Eugene for any amount of time, you may remember when Lincoln was a school. Today, the old school is now apartments for rent, which means each classroom in the old elementary school is now divided into single family dwelling apartments.
The Lincoln School Park sits just west of the apartments and is a relatively small park. It’s about half the size of block, with a sandy volleyball pit, swings, a slide and a picnic table. The park would only get a rating of fair for being somewhat un-kept. The grass was a little long and some of the trash didn’t find its way into the solitary trash can on site.
One of the best features of the park is the big old tree that lives there offering shade. The city of Eugene suggests Lincoln Park is the perfect place for your venue, be it a wedding or family reunion. This might be so, but you would need to clean up the area a bit, and your party shouldn’t be much above 50 or so people as it is a relatively small space.
There is a community garden south of the park with a chain link fence around it and signs that read “Don’t pick the flowers or produce.” You can find out how to take advantage of setting up your own garden plot by calling Eugene Parks and Recreation department at 541-682-4800.
Overall, this park is tiny with very few amenities, but it would offer a nice place to get away from a busy fairground or a good place to walk if you live in the area. One thing for certain, you will most likely find Solitude at the old Lincoln School Park.
