Lone Oak Park
Lone Oak Park is jammed between Beltline, a cluster of apartments, what appears to be a power substation and a few residential streets. Other than a dirt walking path connecting the ends of Lone Oak Avenue to each other for local pedestrians and cyclists, the park is undeveloped. The path seems simply to be a consequence of foot traffic through the area and serves the neighborhood with a means to access the multitude of shopping areas that sprawl only a block from the park’s edge. Despite its proximity to Beltline and Santa Clara’s most congested and frequented shopping complex, the grassy open space is surprisingly and wonderfully peaceful. As its name implies, a single, sizable tree is the dominant landmark in the park and partially shades the dusty path.
If you find yourself seeking Lone Oak Park by car, take River Road to Division Avenue and when you see St. Vincent de Paul on the left, turn left onto Lone Oak Avenue to its abrupt end. Parking is available here and the park begins where the pavement ends. The public is welcome from 6am to 11pm.
