Oregon Country Fair 2009
The Oregon Country Fair Celebrates 40 Years!
It’s here again, bigger and better than
ever. This year hosts the 40th Annual (and world-renowned) Oregon
Country Fair located 13 miles west of Eugene near Veneta, Oregon on
July 10, 11 and 12. With 17 stages, 80 food booths and more than 1000
crafters slated to be there, the 2009 Oregon Country Fair will be
especially magical.
If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, you can do so at any TicketsWest outlet or online at the TicketsWest website.
Parking fees of $7.00 per vehicle per day in advance, $7.50 through the
TicketsWest website and $8.00 at the Fair also apply. Fair tickets vary
in price and are available ONLY through TicketsWest, so please get
yours BEFORE driving out to the Fair. For detailed ticket information,
please see the OCF Tickets page.
The
entertainment line-up is truly immense. Over 150 entertainers of
several nationalities and genres are scheduled, from Abbey Road to
Zane; from jugglers and singers to hip hop dancers and activists. For
a full line-up see the official list of entertainers. To browse by date, stage or entertainer, simply use the drop down menu in the lower left portion of the page.
If
your sense of adventure lies more in the gourmand realm, you’ll be
exploring OCF paths the entire weekend browsing and savoring
international cuisines including Afghan, Greek, Mexican, Italian,
Peruvian, Thai and more. There are juices, nuts, vegetarian, baked
goods, candy, shaved ice, beverages and much, much more to satisfy just
about any craving you might have. If you just must tease your tastebuds
now, take a gander at the food vendors list to get an idea of what you can sink your teeth into at the Fair.
For
unique hand-crafted, artful, functional or just downright creative
items for mind, body, soul, home and hearth, you’re sure to find more
than you’re looking for among the thousand-plus crafters and artisans.
Whether it be baskets, beads, hats, clothing, furniture, esoteric arts,
leather goods, toys or wonderful whatnots, you are bound to find more
than you can carry home. For a full list of the various and sundry
crafts offered, see the list of crafters setting up this weekend.
Even
if transportation is a problem for you, it’s no problem for the Oregon
Country Fair! For local folks there’s a free Lane Transit District
shuttle service available for OCF ticket holders. Without a ticket, the
fee for the Country Fair shuttle ride is $10.00. Simply show your
Oregon Country Fair ticket for that day to any driver of any LTD bus to
get a ride to the Downtown terminal. From there you can catch the OCF
Shuttle out to the Fair grounds. There is one other OCF Shuttle
location at the southwest parking lot of the Valley River Center.
Please see the OCF Shuttle page on the LTD website for details.
If you’re not so local, do not fret. There are some alternatives. You can carpool, share a ride, take the train or even ride the Green Tortoise from San Francisco. Costs, of course, vary according to transportation type.
Lodging
is as varied as the rest of the Fair’s fares and wares. From hotels to
campgrounds to vacation rentals there’s bound to be something to
accommodate your accommodation needs. You can obtain local lodging
information from Travel Lane County’s website, browse vacation rentals on the Eugene Craigslist website, or peruse the many nearby campgrounds on the OCF website – some of which even offer shuttle service to the Fair.
For a quick guide see the OCF Quick Visitor Guide online. To help make the visit to the Fair a pleasant and considerate one, please observe the small list of do’s and don’t's for Fair-goers. You’ll be glad you did.
So, don your funnest duds, grab your friendliest smile and head to
experience more magic than exists in any other single place on the
planet: the Oregon Country Fair. Pixie dust included!
